Impoverishing Effects of Coal Mining Projects: A Case Study of Five Villages in Orissa
This paper briefly examines the rehabilitation policy that applies to mining projects in the Talcher coalfields in Orissa Province in India and considers the impoverishment risks of the five villages that are closest to the mining activities. A strategy is suggested to counter the impoverishment risks.
